Stay curious about our next country in focus.
Transcultural Leadership Summit channels synergies between different types of leadership based on a better understanding of transculturality and the definition of globally shared values.
With its unique approach of bringing together personalities of diverse backgrounds and its commitment to interdisciplinarity the summit contributes to the formulation of global and industry-wide solutions.
The summit represents an information exchange platform, providing participants with in-depth insights into matters relevant to the country in focus.
Global value creation, cross-border innovation and global HR are some topics that define the increasingly complex challenges of leading a business in today's world. To meet these, corporations and their leaders need to develop the willingness to cooperate, the capacity to define globally shared values and the ability to formulate cultural commonalities.
Herein the concept of transculturality which, at its most basic, emphasizes the recognition and relation of cultural differences and similarities, will contribute to the development of industry-wide solutions, daily practice of organizations and the development of globally leading executives. TLS is a summit designed for both the conceptualization of new challenges of leadership, and the interdisciplinary exchange of leading executives from diverse backgrounds.
The Transcultural Leadership Summit represents an information platform to deepen participants’ cultural knowledge and foster mutual understanding with its unique feature of an annually changing country focus. - In 2016, the country focus was China.

The first TLS conference was moderated by Astrid Oldekop, from Mediapoint Düsseldorf Beijing. Working as a business journalist for Handelsblatt, Wirtschaftswoche, ARD-Radio and China Daily, Oldekop has always kept a focus on China and has grown to be one of Germanys leading China experts.
Within the past months the major decrease in Chinese GDP has been marking a watershed in the seemingly unlimited ascent of Chinese economy. In the course of the 21st century, previous guarantors of Chinese high speed development like large-scale investments seem no longer sufficient to guarantee constant and sustainable growth.
For China the present change comes with the opportunity to reshape their position in the world and an increasing need for alternative solutions, making it a fit and highly relevant topic for the first TLS.
The two-day conference included inspiring keynotes by internationally renowned guest speakers, hands-on workshops and panels that highlighted the summit's highest commitment to interdisciplinarity exchange. Not only with its interdisciplinary focus did TLS differ from other conferences. Throughout the two conference days art installations, unique workshops and panels added different layers of reflection to broaden participants' view on the topics discussed.

Transcultural Leadership - review, criticism, vision
Held at Zeppelin University which has been ranked among the best and most innovative university's in Germany for its approach of “bridging business culture politics”, the summit's unique advantages become obvious. We are convinced that the universities highest commitment to interdisciplinarity and thinking-out-of-the-box-attitude of the student body can be directly applied to a conference format and consequently benefit and enrich professional dialogue.
Put together by a highly motivated interdisciplinary team we employed the highest level of academic professionalism and quality to establish a top-level conference that has attracted globally renowned experts and developed long-term implications on both practice and academia.
